リビングを彩っているベンジャミン。北米では「ファイカス・ベンジャミーナ」と呼ばれ、親しまれています。

実はこの木、１０年ちょっと前にアパートのゴミエリアでレスキューしたものです。

植木鉢が小さすぎて根が成長できず、苦しんでいたんでしょう。大きい鉢に植え直して、今に至ります。レスキュー当初の写真。

病気にもならず、元気に復活してくれてよかったよかった。

十二月にはわざわざクリスマス・ツリーを買わず、このベンジャミンにライトとデコレーションをつけて、クリスマスツリーとしても活躍してもらっています。

    @danielanWhen i try to cultivate soil a little bit, I can't dig even a bit. That means the roots bound is bad. Maybe when you are at my place next time, you could take a close look at it?

    Wow! I have never seen the picture from 10 years ago. Hard to believe it's the same plant, so lush now. I can help you trim the roots one day, but it could be risky. It is usually done to outdoor plants in the winter when they are dormant, especially if they have no leaves then, but this one living indoor has only one season, more or less same temperature all year round. Trimming the roots could also cause stress. I think if it is so beautiful it is not suffering right now in the pot it is in.

    @空美☆ユーカリとは珍しい。でも庭にユーカリがあったら、コアラを座らせたくなるよね。 植物好きが植物を枯らすのは、大抵お世話のしすぎのようだよ。水やりすぎとか肥料やりすぎとか。私は結構放任主義？で、あ、なんとなく水が切れかけてるかも、と思ったら水をやる、ってな具合。
